Vascular Surgery
Comprehensive treatments will be offered in close cooperation with the cardiology and cardiac surgery departments. As this department specializes in vascular surgery, highly specialized treatments and surgery may be provided.
Highlights of the department
- With regard to the arterial system, surgeries will be conducted for conditions such as aortic aneurysm and peripheral arterial obstruction. They include the following:
- Stent graft insertion for chest and abdominal aortic aneurysm
- Synthetic blood vessel graft replacement for chest and abdominal aortic aneurysm
- With regard to the venous system, surgeries will be conducted for conditions such as varicose veins in the lower extremities, chronic venous congestion, deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Surgeries include the following:
- Laser treatment for varicose veins in the lower extremities
- Ankle joint bypass surgeries and catheterization for patients with critical limb ischemic (pain while resting and gangrene of the feet)
Other specialty fields and unique treatments
- Minimally invasive intravascular therapy (catheterization) for the aorta and peripheral vessels
- Branched stent graft insertion (treatment will not be covered by the national health insurance) for chest and abdominal aortic aneurysms
- Gene therapy for peripheral arterial diseases (clinical trial)
- Laser ablation for varicose veins in the lower extremities, etc.
