Allergy and Rheumatology
We treat various auto-immune and allergy-related diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, other rheumatic diseases, hay fever and bronchial asthma which occur due to abnormal immunological function. Rheumatic diseases in general may cause complications in organs such as the lungs, kidneys and circulatory systems. We, therefore, offer comprehensive treatments in coordination with other departments. In addition to advanced treatments including the use of biological agents, our team will promote maintenance of quality of life (QOL), in coordination with the Rehabilitation Department.
Highlights of the department
Rheumatoid arthritis:
Appropriate treatment will be offered based on the results of the disease activity score and ultrasound imaging.
Other Rheumatic diseases:
Complications in the lungs and kidneys will be treated in coordination with the pulmonology and nephrology departments. Our department will also contribute to the care of patients with fever of unknown origin and other difficult clinical conditions in coordination with General Medicine Department and International Center for Clinical Infectious Diseases.
Asthma
Peak flow measurement, exhaled nitric oxide (eNO) breath test and MostGraph will be used to diagnose allergic inflammation of the respiratory tract. Various clinical conditions from mild to severe will be managed and treated appropriately using treatments ranging from inhalers to new antibody preparations.
Allergy:
Identification of the source of the allergen is a must. A highly accurate allergen test will be performed using intradermal testing, which is superior in sensitivity and specificity when compared to previous IgE testing methods. Allergen immunotherapy, a potentially curative radical treatment will be offered for allergic rhinitis caused by cedar pollen and house dust.
