Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

We will assist in improving patients quality of life (QOL) by meticulously treating deformities and scars caused by nature, injury and illness.

Symptoms due to aging (eyelid ptosis, pigmented spots etc) will be also treated. Multidisciplinary treatment will be offered in coordination with other departments, for example, Emergency Medicine for facial fractures and burns, Orthopedic Surgery Department for traumas in extremities, Breast Surgery Department for breast reconstruction, and Dermatology Department for skin tumor resection.

We deal with a wide range of conditions ranging from primary care to highly complex consultations and treatments.

Highlights of the department

Congenital diseases:

  • Surgical treatment will be offered for congenital disorders affecting the body surface
    • Cleft lip and cleft palate will be treated in coordination with pediatrics, ENT, dentistry (pediatrics, orthodontic and other departments) and speech therapists.
    • Congenital eyelid ptosis will be treated by transplanting fascia from the thigh.
    • For microtia, costal cartilage framework imitating the healthier side will be created and transplanted.
    • Other symptoms such as accessory auricle, cryptotia, umbilical protrusion and polysyndactyly will be also treated.

Facial palsy:

Various treatments ranging from brow lifting surgery for brow ptosis and surgery for smile restoration will be offered.

Age related eyelid ptosis:

Treatment combining tightening of the fascia to lift up the loosened eye lids and the excision of extra skin will be offered.

Eye socket reconstruction for Eye prostheses:

Focus will be on achieving wearing stability as well as good cosmesis for eye socket reconstruction in patients who have lost their eyes due to operations to treat cancer and trauma.

Breast reconstruction:

Our department will conduct immediate breast reconstruction at the time of breast cancer surgery as well as delayed breast reconstruction after the surgery has been performed in another hospital. Silicone implant reconstruction and autologous (flap reconstruction) are available.

Inverted nipple and subareolar abscess:

We will treat recurrence of the above-mentioned conditions after surgery conducted in other hospitals.

Armpit odor:

The apocrine gland, which is one of the glands secreting sweat, will be excised in patients for whom surgery is recommended.

Facial tumor resection and post-operative reconstruction:

Surgery minimizing the loss of functionality will be offered while keeping the cosmetic appearance in mind.

Intractable ulcers of lower extremities:

Salvage therapy for lower extremities combining NPWT (negative pressure wound therapy), regenerative medicine (to be developed after the opening of the hospital), plastic surgery for dermal flaps etc. will be offered, in coordination with the endocrinology and vascular surgery departments.

Lymphedema:

In addition to wearing of arm sleeves and stockings, lymphedema will be treated with surgery (lymphovenous anastomosis) for hand and foot edema after breast or gynecological surgery.

Other specialty fields and unique treatments

Scar Revision Center:

Offers tailor made advanced treatments combining pharmacotherapy, laser treatment, regenerative medicine (to be developed after the opening of the hospital), surgery radiation therapy and others will be offered.

Laser treatment:

Treats pigmented spots such as spots caused by aging. Offers an appropriate treatment plan combined with surgery for patients with congenital brown and red discolorations of the skin.
