Diabetes, Metabolism and Endocrinology

Offers advanced medical treatments covering diabetes, metabolism and endocrinology disorders based on clinical data.
In the field of diabetes, patient education on diabetes will be offered in partnership with specialist allied health professionals, to manage diseases such as geriatric diabetes and high-risk pregnancy. In the field of endocrinology, various endocrine diseases will be effectively managed in partnership with other departments and universities.

Highlights of the department

  • Diabetes (Type I, Type II, maternal diabetes and other types of diabetes)
    • Diabetes education in cooperation with specialists such as nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists and physiotherapists
    • Management of diabetes complications for maternal diabetes and geriatric diabetes
    • High-risk pregnancy including but not limited to maternal diabetes and pregnancy complications associated with thyroid disease
  • Diagnosis and management of dyslipidemia and primary hyperlipidemia
  • Diagnosis and management of hyperuricemia
  • Management of metabolic and endocrine diseases, particularly the topics listed below , in coordination with other departments and universities.
    • Management of Bariatric conditions (bariatric surgery in coordination with Chiba University)
    • Management of pituitary gland disorders (in coordination with Neurosurgery Department and Chiba University)
    • Isotope therapy for Graves’ disease (in coordination with Radiology Department)
    • Diagnosis and treatment for thyroid disorders (in coordination with IUHW Ichikawa Hospital)
    • Management of parathyroid disorders (in coordination with IUHW Ichikawa Hospital)
    • Diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis (in coordination with orthopedics and geriatrics departments)
    • Diagnosis of adrenal gland disorders, especially primary aldosteronism (in coordination with Radiology Department)
    • Management of adrenal gland disorders (in coordination with Renal and Urological Surgery Departments and Chiba University)
