Center for Genomic Diagnosis

We are equipped with NovaSeq (developed in 2017) rarely owned by medical facilities in Japan. This cutting-edge medical equipment analyzes human genome of forty-eight persons in two and a half days. Medical examination will be ba sed on the world's top-class genomic analysis under the supervision of Dr. Shoji Tsuji, Director of IUHW
Institute of Medical Genomics and a former Head of Medical Geno mics Research Initiative, The Tokyo University.

International Remote Diagnostic Center

IUHW Narita Hospital is connected with overseas affiliated facilities, such as universities, medical institutes, and IUHW centers, via a dedicated line to remotely support the diagnosis of radiographs, histopathological images, and other medical images.
As for radiographic images, IUHW Narita Hospital provides a wide range of support including diagnostic advice and techniques to capture images. With regard to histopathological images, they are prepared by scanning specimens prepared by overseas affiliated facilities using a whole-slide imaging (WSI) scanner for online diagnosis by IUHW Narita Hospital.
Our Center places great importance in communication with physicians overseas, and there are facilities for online conferences to enable close communication among professionals.

International Center for Clinical Infectious Diseases

Measures against various pathogens brought into Japan are indispensable. Being the university hospital located closest to Narita International Airport, we are ready to cooperate with the government in taking the initial action against the spread of pathogens. Treatment and research at the Center will be carried out by specialists in the field of infectious diseases and infecti on control.
The Center will also collaborate with medical institutions in Asia to contribute in raising the standard of infection control in various countries.

Radiotherapy Cancer Center

We perform accurate diagnosis for any disease using the latest CTs, MRIs and PET-CTs. We pursue preservation of body functions and reduction of side-effects by using image-guided interventional radiology, as well as precise intensity-modulated radiotherapy using TomoTherapy unit.

The Largest Level of Health Checkup Center in Japan

Center for Preventive Medicine will have one of the largest health checkup centers in Japan where Health Promotion Center will be located with facilities such as accommodation, swimming pools, gym and a sauna to provide a relaxing environment for our patients.
Using PET-CT, MRI and other advanced medical equipment, well-experienced physicians and other specialists will provide highly accurate diagnoses with adequate advice for preventing i llness for better health.
An array of optional examinations and types, such as a one-day course without accommodation or an overnight course, will be there to select from.
If the checkup results require reexamination or a more detailed examination of specific body parts, arrangements will be made with related departments for medical consultation by a specialist.
Our group is highly praised for its variety and standard of health checkup services and we have a wealth of experience.
Sanno Medical Center that opened in 2009, for example, is well known for its stress-free services, relaxing environment and smooth communication with all departments of Sanno Hospital.
Based on our experience, we established "Health Evaluation and Promotion Center-Cho Ray Hospital International University of Health and Welfare (HECI)" at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in 2018, in collaboration with Cho Ray Hospital.

Multi-language Services with Respect for Various Cultures

We are ready to receive patients from various countries. Medical interpreters will be there to help at reception area especially set up for international patients. Also, prayer rooms will be provided, and there will be a variety of menu choices at the restaurant and food court to best meet food preferences and cultural needs.
Hospital wards will have interior and amenities to create a relaxing environment for inpatients as well as for family and friends visiting. Patients may choose to use exclusive rooms for long-stays, special treatment and other situations depending on their needs.
A special ward will be provided for overseas patients to enable smooth services with language and other cultural support.

Hybrid Theaters for Safer Treatment of Heart and Brain Diseases

Hybrid theaters of the highest quality and standard among all hospitals in our group has been introduced. Safer and more effective treatment is offered by combining an angiography machine and a surgical room, which were previously placed separately, to conduct direct surgery (operations using surgical knife).

Catheterization of the highest standard and quality will be performed using the latest biplane equipment enabling physicians to take images simultaneously from two directions. This enables safer catheterization for vascular diseases such as myocardial infarctions heart attacks and strokes.

State-of-the-art X-TV device allows for obtaining images from multiple directions enabling doctors to conduct minimally invasive treatments such as digestive tract imaging and endoscopic surgery. Safer tests and treatments will be offered to patient as exposure to radiation is greatly reduced compared to previous methods.

LINAC (Linear Accelerator), a Multi-Purpose Radiation Treatment Device for Reducing Radiation Exposure of Normal Tissues

LINAC is a multi-purpose and patient-friendly radiation treatment device, which treats tumors in different locations of the body. Advanced imaging technology of LINAC enables accurate capturing of the locations of the lesions and thus allowing only an appropriate amount of x-rays to be directed at the targeted area.

Tomo Therapy for Highly Precise Cancer Treatment

Our radiotherapy center will be equipped with Japan-made "Tomo Therapy", a special machine for intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), that is rarely held by medical facilities in Chiba Prefecture. Tomo Therapy enables highly accurate cancer treatment through precise radiation even to complex shaped cancer tissues.

PET-CT for Simultaneous Full-Body Screening for Cancer Location, Size, and Metastases

The machines allow for a more accurate and precise investigation of lesions by combining a PET scan and a CT scan. The machine at our hospital is manufactured by the only PET-CT manufacturer in Japan. The dome of the machine is 90cm in diameter, providing more space for patients and thereby a less stressful examination.

3.0 Tesla MRI for Clearer and Safer Imaging without Using Radiation

Captures images of organs, joints, blood vessels, and other body parts from multiple angles through the use of magnetic fields and radio frequency waves. The latest technology has reduced the acoustic noise and patient are not exposed to radiation.

SPECT for Observing Changes in Blood Flow, Metabolism, and Other Functions

For examination using SPECT (single photon emission computed tomography), a minimal amount of radioactive substance (radiopharmaceuticals) is administered to the patient’s body, to capture images of how it distributes to the organs as well as body tissues. While X-ray and CT machines are used to capture motionless images, SPECT allows observation of the changes to the functions such as blood flow and metabolism. These provide useful information for diagnosing the pathological condition and the stage of the diseases, and for judging the effectiveness of the treatment and predicting prognosis. SPECT machine at our hospital features three radioactive tracers for capturing images high in definition and resolution.

320-Slice Area Detector CT for Acquiring Detailed Images of Organs Faster with a Lower Dose of Radiation

Featuring the ability to capture 320 slice images of a 16cm-wide region, which is wide enough to capture whole organs and blood vessels in just one rotation in only 0.275 seconds (the fastest speed currently available), and even a whole body image can be acquired in an extremely short period of time.

DEXA (Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry) for Scanning the Lower Back (Lumbar Spine) and Both Thigh Bones at Once

DEXA is a bone densitometry machine that provides high definition images of bone density. The amount of radiation used is very low and the duration of the scan is short. Thus, patients are not required to maintain the same posture for a long period of time during the test.
